 ◆ Airshow China 2002 Attracts 40 Big Names

More than 40 world-famous names in the field of aviation and aerospace have applied to attend the 4th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition (Airshow China 2002), to be held from November 4 to 11 in Zhuhai, in south China's Guangdong Province.

Exhibitors include such big names as Boeing, Airbus, European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company (EDAS), Rolls Royce, Sukhoi and Rosvoorouzhenie of Russia.

Seeing the great market potential of the previous exhibitions held in China, EDAS has booked floor space covering 900 square meters. Sukhoi and Rosvoorouzhenie have booked 200 and 350 square meters respectively. As well as individual businesses, the United Kingdom, France, the Netherlands, Austria, Singapore and Italy have also shown interest in staging national pavilions at Airshow China 2002.

The exhibition will feature the latest aviation products and technologies, including regional airliners from the United States, Canada and Brazil, and new business jets developed by Boeing and Airbus. Ukraine is also planning to show An-225, the largest transporter in the world.

The Russian Air Force "Swifts" aerobatic team will fly Mig-29s and perform "aero-ballet" at the airshow. Fellow Russian team, theKnights, performed at previous shows.

Exhibition brands and emblems are part of the airshow's marketing. A website has also been launched at www.airshow.com.cn.

Airshow China, as a national exhibition, has been held every two years since 1996.
