 ◆ Beihai-Hong Kong airline resumed with chartered planes

The Beihai-Hong Kong airline, which was suspended early this year, will be resumed with chartered planes since December 21, according to sources.

The preparation work for the resumption is done, sources said.

The flights will be carried by the Hunan company of the China Southern Airlines (Group), using Boeing 737.

Twice a week on Monday and Friday respectively, the planes will take off at 18:10 in Beihai and arrive in Hong Kong in 19:00, then return at 20:00 and get back in Beihai at 21:10.

Beihai is a famous tourist city with its "silver beach", attracting 3 million tourists annually. And the suspension of the flights caused sharp drop in the number of tourists from Hong Kong by 25 percent.(xinhua)(12/23/2001)
