The opening ceremony of The office of China National Tourism administration (CNTA) in Kathmandu, The capital of Nepal,was held here on Nov. 26, 2001. More than 200 guests presented.
Speaking on the occasion, Nepalese Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba said We have opened a new chapter in our age-old relations and restored our determination to continue the exemplary relationship between our two countries based on the five principles of peaceful co-existence since the establishment of the diplomatic relations in 1955. And in recent years the frequent visits from high rank leaders between our two countries also further enhance the relations. He added and was very grateful to that China has listed Nepal as the first outbound destination in south Asia for Chinese tourists. Nepal and China would` have common interests from it. He also hoped in the future Nepal and china would have further cooperation not only in tourism but also in economy, trade ,education and culture.
He Guangwei, Chairman of CNTA expressed that he hoped CNTA office in Kathmandu would act as a bridge for the cooperation in tourism and work hard for the development of tourism between the two countries.
A Memorandum of understanding on tourism was signed by the two sides before the ceremony.
Last July, Our country began to promote Nepal as one of the outbound destination countries for Chinese tourists, therefore Nepal now is listed by China as first outbound destination country for Chinese tourists in south Asia.
