◆ China Renovating Former Vietnamese Leader Ho Chi Minh Residence

China is renovating the former residence of Ho Chi Minh, late leader of Vietnam, in south China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

The renovation will cost 200,000 yuan. The two-story Chinese style building, in Liuzhou City, is expected to be completed before October, and will be open to visitors some time this year. It had been used as a primary school and is now designated as a cultural relic under provincial protection.

Ho Chi Minh was detained by the Kuomintang police in Guangxi in 1942. The communist parties of Vietnam and China concerted their efforts to rescue him. After Ho was released in September 1943, he lived in the building for one year.

While in Liuzhou, Ho conducted a number of revolutionary activities, including holding political meetings and running training courses.
