The second Boeing 747-400F cargo plane purchased by China Southern Airlines (CSA) flew into Baiyun International Airport in Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province recently.
The 747-400F cargo plane boasts a capacity of 108 tons, equal to the cargo capacity of five Boeing-777 passenger planes. More than 200 such planes around the world carry half of the world's air cargo.
It is estimated that the new aircraft will increase CSA's transport capacity by more than 30 percent and is expected to promote the sustainable development of the logistics industry in the economically developed southern China region.
The new aircraft will fly between Shenzhen in Guangdong and Los Angeles of the United States, according to sources with the Guangzhou-based airline company.
The United States is China's largest export market and fifth import market. The volume of bilateral increased six-fold between 1990 and 2000.
The first aircraft of the same model ordered by the airline company arrived in Guangzhou in June this year and has been flying between Shenzhen and Chicago ever since.
Statistics show that CSA transported 3,578 tons of cargo from Shenzhen to Chicago between June and August, a year-on-year increase of 25 percent.
