Scientists have found that China's longest river, the Yangtze, is nearly 90 kilometers (56 miles) shorter than previously thought, Xinhua said recently.

Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge to Undergo Overhaul
The Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge, the first China-designed bridge on its longest river, will undergo the first major overhaul since it was built more than three decades ago.

The feasibility and scheme of the overhaul will start soon, said Mao Limin, office director of the Nanjing Yangtze River Bridge Administration.

The overhaul has been put on agenda for several times but has to be delayed due to the irreplaceable role of the bridge in cross-Yangtze traffic, he said.
