Nanjing to Hold Int'l Plum Blossom Festival
An international plum blossom festival will be held from March 1 to 18 in the capital of east China's Jiangsu Province.

The plum blossom is Nanjing's official flower, and each year local people traditionally go to view plum blossoms in early spring.

Nanjing Vice Mayor Jiang Yude said the opening ceremony of the 18-day plum blossom festival, which has the theme "folk art tourism," will feature scenery, cultural heritage and the current development of Nanjing.

It has been another warm winter and people in Beijing have again missed the fun of a cold winter.

Beijing Observatory reports that the temperature in Beijing averaged 0.1 centigrade in January, 3.8 centigrade higher than in previous years.

Toll Toilets in Beijing to Open Free
Chinese capital Beijing will open part of its toll toilets to citizens and tourists beginning March 1, the Beijing Daily reported recently.

The decree will apply to public toilets of category II or above,which are required to have closed partitions, hand washing and drying facilities and mirrors.

Chinese archaeologists have unearthed a chime stone, believed to be the largest of its kind ever found in the country, in northwest China.

Seventy senior managerial personnel from Shanghai Airlines on recently were awarded graduation certificates for passing examinations in four specialties offered by the International Air Transport Association(IATA).

Passenger Planes Land in Domestic Market
Three China-made MA60 passenger planes will enter the domestic aviation market from April, the plane's producer - the Xi'an Aircraft Company - announced recently.

Wuhan Airline Company will lease three MA60 planes from Xi'an Aircraft Company through Shenzhen Financial Leasing Co Ltd. The planes will be delivered in April, May and June respectively.

It is the first time the smaller passenger plane gets the chance to play in the domestic market since it was developed in 2000.

Large Primeval Forest Discovered in Southwest China
A large area of primeval forest has been discovered in southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.
