China's military and civil aviation sectors introduce a unified regulation on distances between flights as of August 1, 2002, in a bid to prevent midair collisions, air traffic control authorities said recently.
Sources with the East China Air Traffic Control Bureau said the new regulation set out systematic distance standards for aircraft.
The standards cover vertical distance, and horizontal distances between aircraft flying in the same direction, altitude and speed, distances between aircraft flying in radar controlled areas, and the minimum flight safety distance between aircraft.
Experts say the new regulation is of vital importance to ensure air traffic safety in China.
