China is an important and stably-growing visitor source market for Germany, said Petra Hedorfer, an official with Germany National Tourist Board (GNTB).
She said, the number of Chinese visitors to Germany has grown 78 percent since 1994. When the global economy was in recession last year, Chinese' overnight stay in Germany still increased 9.4 percent compared with the previous year.
GNTB estimated the overnight stay by Chinese visitors will grow another 10 percent to reach 570,000 this year and by 2003, the overnight stay will reach 600,000.
Representatives from over 20 travel agencies, scenic spots and Lufthansa Airlines attended the on-going tourism promotion activity themed as "Exploring Germany".
The activity also aimed to mark the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Germany.
As the two countries reached agreement on visa, immigration, travel routes and other related issues, Chinese tourists will soon be able to tour Germany.
