 ◆ Daegu Mayor Visits Main Press Center


Moon Hi Grab, mayor of Daegu City of the Republic of Korea, the host city of the 22nd Universiade, visited the Main Press Center of the 21st Universiade here this morning. He told the press that his team had come to learn Beijing's experience in organizing the Universiade. He said that Daegu is carefully preparing for the 2003 Unviersiade. The main stadium was finished last May and the Athletes?£¤ Village will be finished in March or April next year. "We will collect the flame from the Changbai mountain in Northeast China for the 22nd Unviersiade for peace and unification of the Korean Perninsula,? he noted at the Main Press Center of the 21st Universiade. Accompanied by Park Sang Ha, Executive President of the Organizing Committee of the Daegu Universiade, Mr. Moon Hi Grab arrived in Beijing on Aujgust 28 and has toured the city. ?Beijing is a green city with a lot of trees along the streets,? he said.?Beijing has achieved a great deal in environmental protection.? Zhang Tingquan, Chief of the Main Press Center, told the guests that the results of competition come slow due to the long travel from the competition arenas to the technical commission and that aroused some complaints from reporters. ?If you follow the FISU rules, you will also meet same problem,? Zhang reminded the next host city. ?We provide all transmitting facilities at different levels to meet the various needs of journalists from both developed and developing countries,? said Zhang, showing Moon electronic typewriters, notebook computers with wire and wireless internet access. ?We offer free services to journalists who want to use the wireless internet access,?said Zhang. After inspecting all the facilities and services provided in the Main Press Center, Moon was invited to the webcasting office.
