The Hong Kong Civil Aviation Department issued Air Operator's Certificate (AOC) to CR Airways Limited, a helicopter company, recently, adding the number of Hong Kong AOC holders to seven.
The other six AOC holders are Cathay Pacific Airways Limited, Hong Kong Dragon Airlines Limited, Air Hong Kong Limited, Heliservices (Hong Kong) Limited, Metrojet Limited, and Helicopters Hong Kong Limited.
This is the first time that the department issued an AOC since the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
An AOC is required for flying an aircraft registered in Hong Kong for the purpose of public transport.
CR Airways Limited, which is the third commercial helicopter operator in Hong Kong, plans to provide non-scheduled passenger services within the Pearl River Delta region using a Sikorsky S76C+helicopter.
Other services provided by the company include medical evacuation, sightseeing and tour service, as well as offshore engineering staff commuter support.
