 ◆ Ice-snow festival opens in Harbin

An ice-snow tourist festival opened on Saturday in the capital city of northeast China's Heilongjiang Province.

Entertainment activities during the festival include ice-snow art shows, and cultural and tourism programs.

Business conferences, ice-snow sculpture contests and sports competitions will also be held during the festival.

The annual ice-snow event was first launched in 1985, and has won itself world fame.

Attending the opening ceremony were foreign envoys from over 40 countries, as well as thousands of Chinese tourists.(xinhua)
