Jinan City, capital city of east China's Shandong province, is to build a world-class cargo center in three years.
Plans for the overall logistics center, the Jinan Bridge Cargo Center, have been completed. And the first key phase of the project will require an investment of 100 billion yuan (1.2 billion US dollars).
The cargo center will be located where four expressways and four national highways meet. The site is only 15 kilometers from Yaoqiang International Airport in Jinan.
The second phase of the project includes construction of a warehouse and a multi-function service center covering information, parking and accommodation.
When the entire project is completed, the base will be divided into a logistics zone, a distribution zone and a processing zone for a wide range of goods such as building materials, chemical products, automobiles, farm produce and furniture.
