 ◆ Macao Arts Gala Ends

The 13th Macao Arts Festival was closed Sunday night as a showcase of splendid Chinese and international cultures and local arts.

The closing ceremony put the spotlight on traditional Chinese music with a concert entitled "Chinese Roots, Macao's Heart", co-presented by the China Broadcasting Traditional Orchestra and the Macao Chinese Orchestra.

At the end of the concert, performers had to take quite a few curtain calls as they deeply impressed the audience.

The annual festival becomes a gala drawing wide-ranging participation among both Macao residents and visitors, said Ho Lai Chun, president of the Cultural Institute.

With the theme of "Wonderful Arts, Wonderful Life", this year's festival covered 14 shows, three exhibitions and an extensive film package.
