A total of 77 Macao-based tourist services have been designated by the China National Tourism Administration (CNTA) as agencies to host tourists from China's inland, the Macao Government Tourist Office told Xinhua on August 1.
The so-called "ground-receiving" travel agencies will join hands with as many as 528 inland tourist services in operating tours to Macao.
In a move to promote inlanders visiting Macao, safeguard legal interests and rights of inland tourists and upgrade Macao's market order, the Special Administrative Region (SAR) government decided to select travel agencies with sound service quality and reputation as hosts for inlanders, with 80 travel agencies appearing on the applying list.
Inlanders now contribute to roughly one-third of all tourist arrivals in Macao. More importantly, their per capita spending in the city reached 2,500 patacas (312.5 US dollars) or nearly doubled the average for all visitors in the first quarter.
Meanwhile, Macao is accelerating construction of basic tourism facilities and training more tour guides to meet the demand for tourism boom.
