◆ North China Hebei Province to Host Trade Fair

North China's Hebei Province will host an economic and trade fair in Langfang, a city near Beijing, on May 18-23, officials from the provincial government said here recently.

Over 1,000 projects will be listed for overseas investment at the fair, which has been held for 19 years, organizers say.

These projects, which are expected to draw some 4.44 billion US dollars of overseas investment, cover agriculture, infrastructure, building materials, food, automobile spare parts, overseas investment and the commercial and service sectors.

The six-day fair is expected to draw over 1,500 delegates from the world's top 500 enterprises, transnational corporations, international organizations and foreign missions in China.

Trade talks will be held during the fair on tourism, highway construction, green food production, the commercial and service industry, economic cooperation between Hebei and Taiwan, the transfer of state assets, overseas investment and international procurement.

Located to the west of the Baohai Sea, Hebei surrounds Beijing and the port city of Tianjin, two major cities in China.

The province, which is rich in natural and human resources, has established trade links with over 160 countries and regions and utilized over 13 billion US dollars worth of overseas investment over the past two decades.
