◆ Plans for 29 new bus lines

The Shenzhen municipal communications bureau published draft plans for 29 new bus routes Saturday (Sep. 11th) to solicit public opinions during the next couple of weeks.

Most routes were designed to provide transport services to new neighborhoods in the special economic zone and rapidly developing areas outside the zone, the Daily Sunshine reported Sunday.

Other routes are planned to offer express services for long-distance travel as well as to link subway stations which will start operating by the end of this year.

The key areas include the Qianhai and Moon Bay neighborhoods, the hi-tech park and University Town in Nanshan District, the Honey Lake neighborhood, the Futian Free Trade Zone and the city's future CBD in Futian District.

Public transport will also be considerably improved in areas poorly serviced by bus routes, particularly areas outside the special economic zone, where "motorbike taxis" were rampant before being rooted out by authorities in recent road safety campaigns.

To solicit public opinions, the communications bureau has opened a hotline at 8328-8000, a dedicated fax service at 8322-8111 and an email site at zhaoxg@szmecc.com.

The new routes would be ready by the end of this year if approved by the municipal government, the report said.
