Shanghai Ocean Aquarium, one of the largest aquariums in Asia, opened recently, adding another tourist attraction to China's financial center.
The aquarium, which costs 55 million U.S.dollars, is also Shanghai's largest tourism and culture joint venture. It's total floor space is over 20,000 square meters.
The aquarium aims to give visitors the opportunity to become familiar with some of the world's aquatic animals which can be found in 28 exhibition zones containing over 300 species of rare aquatic animals.
An official in charge of the aquarium says that the aquarium also has the 155-meter submarine tunnel to enable visitors see the aquatic animals at close range.
The aquarium is a joint venture funded by China Poly Group and two Singaporian firms.
