South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region has become a popular destination for tourists from neighboring Vietnam.
Official statistics from the regional tourism bureau show that it has received some 80,000 arrivals from January to November of 2001, an increase of 27.6 percent over the previous year.
China is the major outbound destination for Vietnamese travelers. Most of the tourists from this southeast Asian country choose to visit Guangxi over the border, where the late leader of Vietnam, Ho Chi Minh, lived for a while.
The region shares a border of 637 kilometers with Vietnam and has opened a couple of entrances.
Available traveling routes have allowed Vietnamese visitors to enjoy the natural beauty of landscapes, trace the activities of Ho Chi Minh and see China's reform and opening up achievements.
