The people traveled in China increased from January to September with the foreign exchange revenue trending upward, according to the National Tourism Administration, eastday.com reported today. In September, the foreigners traveling in China increased by 5.98 percent from the same period of last year. Affecting by the September 11 terrorist attacks, the number of travelers from the United States declined by 11.06 percent from a year before. There were less people from Russia, Mongolia and Singapore to travel in China. The number of travelers from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (SAR) had a year-on-year decrease of 1.58 percent in China and that from Taiwan decreased for the first time this year. As travelers from other countries had a steady growth, the total overseas travelers in China increased by 4.17 percent in September from a year before. From January to September, there were totally 65.77 million overseas travelers in China, up 5.78 percent from a year before. The foreign exchange revenue earned from tourism totaled US$13.1 billion, up 9.28 percent from a year before.
