 ◆ World's Third-Tallest Building Receives Record Tourists in 2001

Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower, the world's third tallest building, received a record 3 million tourists in 2001, the tower management said.

The 486-meter high tower on the bank of the Huangpujiang River has received 16 million visitors since it opened to tourists six years ago, equivalent to the whole population of Shanghai.

On one of its busiest days in 2001, the tower was visited by a record 35,000 sightseers.
